I've got my wedding dress [Oct. 7th, 2009|07:43 pm]
[mood | bouncy]

and it's beautiful! I wish you could all see it.

We've booked our ceremony site
We have our cruise tickets
We have our passports
We have gotten our marriage license notarized

There's not much left to do (yet I still feel bogged down)! I think I'll be slightly(!) stressed until the moment we and all of our company are on the boat and ready for action.

I think I'm going to cry during the vows. I always cry at weddings- even when I don't know the bride/groom that well! I'm definitely going to cry at mine! and... I have to speak! I can't be all choked up. ugh, i will definitely take a xanax before walking down that aisle, it might help hold back the tears...thestress...

I still have to get Chris's ring, my shoes, accessories (necklace, earrings, hair thingies), a dress to wear to my bachelorette party (which, btw, is going to be off the chain!), and maybe a new bathing suit.

I'm registering for presents at Target tomorrow. eeeee

It's finally happening. Can you even believe it?

Happy Birthday, Chris. [Jul. 17th, 2009|12:09 am]
[mood | skeptical]

We've been without internet for a little while, and I'm playing catch-up tonight. Ed & Tina came up for Chris's birthday, we got drunk, played games, SAW HARRY POTTER, and did some sitting around. Chris is working this 5pm-2am shift for a while and he was at work when it turned 12am on his bday, so that sucked. BUT, I have an awesome present on the way, but it's coming from fucking CHINA! and it's taking forever. and it's a seeecret. Who would have thought that if I ordered it on the 3rd, it would take this long? ohh well. At least I made him a superb cheesecake, and we had great sex!

Oh yeah! Cassie and her boyfriend Corey came down to spend the 4th with us. That was fun times, except that I had to work. They also brought Chris a car! so that's pretty sweet. Oh, and by the way I lost all the beer pong bragging rights I earned from my birthday when John and I lost to two 17 year olds. damn

So yeah, Harry Potter! It was awesome! Best movie yet! in my opinion. We were all pretty drunk by the time we got there though. I'm going to need to see it again, I think. Tyrese threw up in East Coast Wings (haha).
Photobucket

The next day, Tina made me sit through the whole first season of Buffy. and now I'm going to watch it all! The first season was pretty stink balls, but the second season is starting out really good, and everyone says it gets awesome, so I'm gonna do it! right now.

Bye!

p.s. I picked out a wedding dress

[music |QOTSA- song for the deaf]

Chris is at work most nights now, so when I'm off or open I spend a lot of time by myself. And though I miss chris's company, I like this, because it gives me a chance to spend time at the house doing whatever I want & relaxing. And what I want is usually just to watch some girly movie (today was Revolutionary Road with commentary) or do laundry while I watch the entire LOTR series (fun!), or read my books (Name of the Wind), or browse the computer, or do girl things like painting my nails and pampering myself:

One of my favorite things to do is the green clay face mask! I love the way it feels while its drying and the way my face feels when I take it off! And I mainly love looking and feeling girly and silly!
Photobucket

but lately I've been doing a lot of thinking about our cruise wedding. This is going to be so much fun, it'll be dangerous. I'm so excited about it, I'm practically jumping out of my skin! I've never been on a cruise before, and I've been waiting so long to get married, it's just all coming together and I get giddy every time I think or talk about it! I can't wait to see our Suite with a balcony! It'll be like royal treatment!

This is the link one more time (mainly for you, Will, since I don't have your email address). Check it out! watch the Emerald Princess ship video. can't wait!

Tonight we're going to see Transformers 2. It better be worth it. Last time I saw a long ass movie at the midnight showing (Watchmen) I was uncomfortable and disapointed. This one looks sweet, though.

I have a lot of things I'm looking forward to right now.
-Nearest being July 13th, Chris's birthday (I'm thinking up some good surprises for him).
-Next, July 15th, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince finally
-Then, July 17th, Chris and I get completely caught up with all things financial! We can finally SAVE! Thanks to Chris's new & awesome job.
-Then, August 4th, I take vacation, Mine and Chris's anniversary (the one we celebrate being the day we first met in person- Aug. 4th 2002)
-Then, September 29th, supposedly the release of Dance with Dragons, but I'll believe that when I see it. He's still not done writing it. he just posted on his lj about it today actually! how he's finally finished a couple chapters, hah!
-November, ahhhh, November! Cruise, Wedding, Friends, Family, Fun! and New Moon!!!

Things are good. Things look UP. Things are happy :o)

boy you think you're clever don'tcha girl you think you're so smart [Jun. 15th, 2009|05:32 pm]
[mood | thankful]
[music |Eminem - Relapse]

Chris started a new career last Monday. I say career instead of job, because that's what it is- a much more serious job that is 40/wk, at least $2 more an hour (just to START) than he was making, and involves 5 weeks of training! He's working for this place called Converges. If you haven't heard of them, they're like a telecom company that does the over the phone customer service for big companies like Hyundai, Sprint, etc. He's working for the Charter internet group doing like Internet tech support and sales (I'm pretty sure I have all this right). He's also working with two of our neighbors which helps with the boring classes and the carpooling, since we still only have one car. But OMG, what a relief that he's found something that he's going to enjoy and be really good at and make the money he deserves!

On the flip side of good news, my gym is closing :o( I'm verrry upset about this! I just started there in March and I'm just now starting to get into my routine and all that jazz. It's all very disappointing, because now I'm going to have to try to find a new gym or something, and it's not going to be the same as my ladies-only, hot pink and purple, 80's workout to the extreme crazy time kinda gym. Maybe Chris and I will join a gym together now. I think he's interested in doing that. We might have to see what his schedule is going to look like after these first 5 weeks.

Chris's birthday is coming up very soon. I hope that we get a chance to do something cool. He wants to go camping somewhere, idk what this is going to mean with his new job, but I think it means that he's only going to be able to be gone over the weekend. I'm still going to take the full 4 or 5 days off that I originally requested. I need a break from work, it has really been stressing me out lately. I'm also taking vacation time the first week of August (our annviversary). So that will be nice. I hope we can do something cool then too.

I just got back from Florida. My sister, Jenn, and I took her kids down there to stay with my mom for a few weeks. That was a long ass drive. It was worse for Jenn, because she had to drive the WHOLE way because I don't know how to drive a stick. She also doesn't have cruise control. We also had three irritable kids crammed in the back seat. It was also like 14 hours straight. It was also verrrry hot down there. Don't ever let me forget that I don't ever want to live there again.

I talked to my old buddy, Steve, from Ekotren. I couldn't get ahold of him while I was in FL, but he said that they're going to be playing in Jacksonville again around the end of July. I'm going to have to get the specific date soon and call Sean and Andie up and make plans and all that, so I don't miss them this time. I'm sure it will be some kind of weird blast from the past watching Ekotren play again. At least this time it won't be at Battle of the Bands at Cape Coral High School (haha). Nah, they're pretty big time now. Steve says they've been in every state in the continental U.S. and they've toured with all kinds of big names. I'm kinda proud!

Speaking of music, have you guys HEARD the new Eminem cd? bombtron.com

here's a goofy series of pictures of me trying to get Ares to pose at the camera with me. I was trying to use the 10 second timer thing, since it was just me and her home and no one was there to help me out! But she kept on kissing me when I got to her!

Missing Link Found, and she's called Ida. [May. 20th, 2009|06:09 pm]
[mood | enlightened!]

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/05/090519-missing-link-found.html

Alright, so our species can finally be linked from apes to small mammals like Lemurs! Verrrry interesting.

Photobucket

"The fossil, he says, bridges the evolutionary split between higher primates such as monkeys, apes, and humans and their more distant relatives such as lemurs.

"This is the first link to all humans," Hurum, of the Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway, said in a statement. Ida represents "the closest thing we can get to a direct ancestor."

Ida, properly known as Darwinius masillae, has a unique anatomy. The lemur-like skeleton features primate-like characteristics, including grasping hands, opposable thumbs, clawless digits with nails, and relatively short limbs."

This website is really cool
http://www.revealingthelink.com/

"Ida is one of the transitional species that Darwin wrote about 150 years ago, even though they were missing in the fossil record at that time."

"For 150 years, scientists have debated the course of our evolutionary journey from tree-dwelling primate to modern Homo sapiens.

When Darwin put forward the theory of evolution in his book On The Origin of Species, he suggested that there were transitional species linking humans with the rest of animal life.

Since Darwin's time, palaeontologists have made important discoveries of fossils that have begun to uncover our prehistoric ancestry. Best known of these fossils is Lucy, a hominid who lived around 3.2 million years ago at the time when our ancestors started walking upright. But before Lucy there are massive gaps in the fossil record, and scientists have only had fragments of fossils to study.

Scientists have long hoped that the Earth might eventually yield an even more ancient fossil that links apes, man and all other primates to the earliest mammals on the planet. Now Ida is rewriting the history of our earliest origins. She is the most complete primate fossil ever found and has proto-anthropoid features, placing her at the base of the anthropoid branch which leads to monkeys, apes, and humans. Here at last, 150 years after the publication of On The Origin of Species, we have the link that connects us directly with the rest of the animal kingdom."

noteworthy - lasagna [Feb. 15th, 2009|10:47 pm]
We had guests all weekend, which was fun, but since we're alone now I thought that I'd make something special for Valentine's Day tonight.

Instead of going out to eat (like we did all weekend), I decided I was going to try and make my first lasagna! It was actually delicious, and I think Chris loved it too. We also discovered this really good tasting wine called Scuppernogg Blush. I guess it's a North Carolina wine and a scuppernogg is a sort of grape that only grows in the carolinas... That's what Tammy told me, idk. Then we had turtle pie mm-mm.

My birthday weekend is coming up and that's going to be great fun. I have to take the week off as vacation, b/c I can't hang like I used to and go to work the next day anymore. I need an entire week off to recuperate. Ug, I'm getting old. 24.

I just started reading this book. It recently won the Newbury Award for Juvenile Fiction. I dunno what kid could read this book and not have nightmares, cause it scares the crap outta me in just the first three pages. Anyway, I recommend it. I've never read any of Neil Gaiman's adult fantasy, but I think I might have to.

lemme update [Jan. 28th, 2009|12:47 pm]
[Current Location |spare oom]
[mood | thoughtful]
[music |kanye - 808s & heartbreak]

We've purchased a new HP desktop computer. It's great to have and the internet is successfully stolen from a neighboring apartment complex- for now. I really prefer having a desktop to a laptop for a few reasons: its less likely to get broken (by friends, or stupidity, or neglegance, ect.), it's less likely to get stolen (we do live in the hood), and we've got a huuuge HD monitor that's nicer to look at than my TV. I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

I've seen a number of really good movies lately. The best, so far, is defeinitely Revolutionary Road. Good God, that movie... I can't stop thinking about it.

I also saw The Reader. I had no idea what that movie was about going into it, but I saw that it was nominated for Best Picture and decided I should watch it. It's about a kid that has a love affair with an older woman (Kate Winslet) when he's 16. She suddenly disappears and he never sees her again until later in life when he's in law schoold. He's attending trials and sees her as a defendant on trial. He finds out that when she disappeared, she joined the SS and became a prison guard in Auschwitz, and is on trial for murder. Also, very good.

Though I swore never to see another Colin Farell movie again, I couldn't resist watching In Bruges, which I loved. I've recommended it to everyone at work. I'm a little nervous about that, because I had Chris watch it last night and he didn't really like it, so maybe it's just me again. Just like when we saw Burn After Reading, and I loved it, and everyone I know hated it with enthusiasm. BUT- I thought In Bruges was fantastically funny- in a British humor charm type way- (that was the part that Chris said was "pointless talking"), with a good, strong plot. I think you should see it!

We finally saw Pineapple Express, which was a sort of disapointment. I enjoyed James Franco's character, I'm just starting to get annoyed watching Seth Rogen play Seth Rogen. He's painfully typecasted himself.

Chris and I got selected to be a Neilson TV rating home. hahah, boy will they be disappointed when they realize that we don't watch TV. That our TV will actually be cut off on February 17th. I expect we'll get cable at some point, it's just that living without it for so long has eliminated the need or the urgency. I had never heard of Neilson before, but I guess what they do is compile the TV ratings of everything, for the last 50 years. GSO was telling us that we were going to get free TV with a special Neilson box and all this goody stuff, but when I called them to do the survey, that's all it was... a survey. They didn't mention anything about sending me free stuff! I told them I didn't have cable, and she said that it didn't mattter, because they had to get a good rating from all types of households. Haha when she asked me what types of TV shows we watched all I could say was latenight shows and football. truthfully. Anyway, they did send us $2 in the envelope with the survey, so that was pretty sweet. All in all, a profitable mail day.

My birthday is coming up. I will be 24. woah. Then what? I'm ready to start my quarterlife crisis. I can feel it coming. I don't own a house, I don't have any kids, I'm not making a ton of money, I didn't finish school... on and on it goes. These thoughts, they sneak up on you (or me, I mean). And do you want to hear the worst of it all: we're still not married! WHY? It's embarassing when someone asks me when we're getting married. I just don't know. My family has pussyfooted around the whole thing for YEARS now. My aunt wants to take us on a cruise with her in November to the bahamas and marry us there and have the honeymoon all in one go. Which will be great, I know it will. It's just missing one crucial thing: our family & friends. My friends are my family to me, so yes, they count as one. But, fuck man, at this point I think I'd settle with a damn courthouse marriage and a party at my house to celebrate. shit.

Anyway, I had my first snow day ever last week. It was simply magical. I'm glad it happened when it did, how it did, and disappeared as quickly as it did. It was the perfect snow. Although, I thought my toes were going to fall off, they hurt so bad. I couldn't believe that kind of frozen toe pain could be so extreme. Why didn't they just go numb and quit bothering me?! Toward the end, it was all I could think about. I didn't even wa When I finally took my shoes & socks off, my toes were BRIGHT red. I mean bright fucking red. And I had to massage the pain away very slowly. Other than that, though, it was a fantastic time. Ares was adorable.

Ekotren, my old good friend Steve's band, is going to be playing at Hooligan's in Jacksonville (NC) on February 28th, while they're on tour. I'm going for sure! I can't wait to see them. They still have 3 out of the original 5 members. I used to go to all their shows and hang out with them all the time. I remember watching them at the talent shows in high school. My mom called me a couple months ago to tell me she was listening to Ekotren on sirius. It's pretty crazy how they've grown. I'm proud. I have Steve's #, but I think I'm just going to show up and surprise them. I'm very excited about this! I don't really ever get to see anyone from my old life.

That's all for today. I've missed you, lj.

Well, we have the internet again... finally! It's even more awesome than I remember! I'm addicted to fantasy football. It's mine and Chris's first season playing, and we're 3-0 right now in our league! We have mostly Redskins players too, offense and defense.... I can't believe we're still winning. We dooo have Tony Romo as our QB, heh.

Another cool thing about the internet is that Tommy sent me this link that can manage my money for me. I need that pretty bad. I make enough of it, I just don't know where it all goes! I should have nice things, but I don't.

Work is stressing me out. Now that Ed, Sean and Wayne are all gone (not that most of you know who they are), I'm stranded and hanging this store together by a thread. We had a Breaking Dawn release party that was awesome, and we had a Brisingr release party that was not so awesome. But at least I got to get all dressed up for both of them. Oh yeah, I'm addicted to Twilight too. But i'm not going to talk about that here.

I want to move from Greenville. I think we're looking toward Asheville, only that will put us very far away from Wilmington and Woodbridge. I don't know what's going to happen. I need to get out of this store, though. It's a dead end for me. The only way for me to start making more money (other than my shitty 4-8% yrly raise), will be to move to a bigger and better market. Not to mention the fact that most of our friends moved away in the last 6 months. It's time to go... just gotta save some $.

We got a new phone number a while ago.... I have been really lazy in getting it out to people, so here it is

252-367-8967

It's a Greenville number.

I'm in Charlotte right now with my sister for pretty much the remainder of my two week vacation. This is actually the longest I've been away from Chris and I miss him so much. I won't see him again until Friday. At least I have Ares here to keep me sane. I dunno who's keeping Chris sane... probably Sean or Brad.

Chris turned 21 finally. So now he's going to do all the beer runs for 1 1/2 years to catch up! Our daily lives consist of drinking & smoking with friends, watching movies, and that's about it. I think we're borderline alcoholics. eh, what else does Greenville have to offer? nadda. We haven't done anything exciting since Harry Potter (which was more than awesome).

Next month consists of a visit to Wilmington for the Avett Brothers show at the soap box (see you then, Tina, Tim, Perry, etc!). After that, I'm sure our next venture will be up to VA. Sometime in my life I'm going back to Florida to visit. God damn. Florida seems like another lifetime to me. A distant distant past. I'm a different person now, and my hometown is a different place. I don't know what I expect. I have been talking to a lot of old friends from FL on myspace and it kinda weirds me out. but I'm really excited all the same. So long as I don't see anyone like Stephanie (*edit* McVey) or Syed or any other Undesireable.

So out of Hogwarts and back to G-Vegas... it might snow tonight. There was ice on the road this morning, ooohhh boy! but I'm not gonna get my hopes up, it never really happens.

I'm sick of being poor. I can't wait to get my tax returns! Not like they're gonna go to anything other than bills anyway, but still, it'll be nice to not be getting bill collector phone calls all the time. annnnd i might buy a new shirt or something fun like that.

goddamn it's GREAT to have the internet back! [Jan. 19th, 2007|12:27 am]
So... my bday is comin up. Since all that shit happened with me having to switch my vacation around, I decided to start it on my bday weekend. So it would be super fuckin cool the falcons and cool people from VA would like to come down for another awesome weekend of partying! Then I was thinking that since I'm off for an entire week after that, we are going to head up to Sylva then.

Then, finally, I will be able to have a goddamn weekend off while everyone's down, I usually have to work all weekend and it's mega-lame. So that's that.... everyone who's cool and wants to party hard for a weekend should come visit! Then after that we should start planning our Utah trip. After I get my tax refund I might be able to afford some plane tickets for me and C-man.

So I broke down and decided to read all of the Harry Potters. I fucking love them. Actually, I think i'm addicted. NOW I know what all the hype has been about. I'm on the Goblet of Fire right now and it's my favorite so far.

Here are some new pictures from my phone

a year at a glance. [Jan. 10th, 2007|02:10 pm]
[mood | amused]

So, I'm wondering what 2007 is going to have in store for us. At the beginning of 2006 I never would have thought I would be living in Greenville, ASM of a store, with the best dog in the world, and hanging out with some of the people I hang out with now (ohh, and not hanging out with some others). I guess it's hard to see a year ahead of time. I really have no idea what my life will be like at the beginning of 2008. Who knows if we'll be in Greenville still, or Virginia, or where ever...? My sister is pregnant. So, I'm going to have a new baby to love on in September. I hope there's a lot more partying ahead.

This year is my 5th anniversary year with B&N, so that means.... I get 3 weeks paid vacation! woot woot! Yeah, well I was too broke last year to take my second week, so I still have to take that! I'm taking vacation the first week of February. I think we're thinking of going to Sylva for that week. What say you Jordyn & Alyssa?? I don't know if Chris has called yet... But I have my bf Rachel and her husband there, Perry has someone to visit that way, and We have Jordyn and Alyssa, so I think it will be fun times. :o)

I took my birthday weekend off this year. I hope we do something fun! Maybe all those cats from VA will wanna come down and party again like the past two years!? Ohhh, and Chris turns 21 this year! daaaamn. a lot to look forward to.

I dont usually make New Years resolutions, but this year I really want to be smarter with my money. I've dug a hole and I'm having one hell of a hard time getting out.

We're in Woodbridge right now! We'll be here until Thursday morning, b/c I have to spend Tday with my sister in Jacksonville. Lots of driving ahead.

I only wish I could enjoy myself more right now. I've been so stressed out the last two months. The last two weeks have been the worst. I keep thinking it's going to get better soon, but I'm not sure about that. Xmas is right around the corner, and we're still in bad shape. Something's gotta give. Work is about to get really hectic too. During the two weeks surrounding Christmas, I have to work 6 days a week (xmas being my only day off that week).

It's good to see so many friends and family, though. For that I am thankful.
